Selena Gomez is Team Jacob!

Selena Gomez insists it’s not easy for her to choose between Team Jacob and Team Edward.

“That’s hard,” she said last night at the Onitsuka Tiger party for her debut album, Kiss & Tell. “I don’t know. I guess it would be Team Jacob because [Taylor Lautner] is my friend, but I do like Team Edward.”

In other boy news, Selena told us…

Shia LaBeouf is still at the top of the Wizards of Waverly Place starlet’s list of crushes.

“He’ll always have a special place reserved,” cooed Selena, 17.

As for her professional wish list, Selena said she wants to “mix it up” with Jason Mraz.

“I love him,” she said of the “I’m Yours” hitmaker. “I think he’s so talented lyrically and musically.”

Cam Gigandet Talks Motorcycles In ‘Priest’ Movie

Cam Gigandet

One thing I’ve noticed over the course of my life is that chicks dig dudes on motorcycles; one thing I’ve noticed over the last year or so is that chicks also dig Cam Gigandet. So, if the team behind the currently-shooting “Priest” adaptation are concerned about attracting the female demographic, some info I got recently from Cam makes me think they have no need to worry.

“Right now I’m shooting a movie with Paul Bettany that’s called ‘Priest,’ which is going to be an unbelievable film,” he explained when he stopped by the MTV studio last week. “The sets are just unbelievable—and we ride around on motorcycles.”

With any luck, Gigandet joked, not only will he and Bettany look cool as they channel their inner Wild Hogs, but they’ll also look like they know what they’re doing.

“I’d never ridden a motorcycle before this movie,” he said of the flick, based on Min-Woo Hyung’s graphic novel series about mankind’s battle against fallen angels. “They trained us on how to ride motorcycles and all that. Then I finally got to ride my motorcycle on set, and it is a huge beast of a motorcycle. It’s one of the coolest motorcycles, and Priest is on a motorcycle as well, and we get to ride in the middle of the desert on salt flats—it [looks] like those Chevy commercials.”

“We get to ride in the open plains, just me and him in the middle of nowhere,” Gigandet said of his time with Bettany in the flick, which hits theaters next summer. “It’s probably one of the best feelings in the world.”

“I’m a good guy—that’s a change!” joked Gigandet, who can currently be seen acting more than a bit devilish in the sci-fi thriller “Pandorum.” “He’s different. He’s not the most confident guy in the world; he’s not like this cool cat. And that’s his journey, trying to become a man. He was put in these circumstances, whether we wanted to or not; these were forced upon him. And as hard as he tries to be a man and show that he can handle himself, he can’t.”

“But in the end of the movie, he gets there,” grinned Gigandet. “It’s a cool little movie.”

The Buzz On KStew

kristen-stewart

Her name is everywhere – and it’s not always because of some fabricated wedding or pregnancy rumor, either.

Lately, the buzz on Kristen Stewart has been ultra positive, and – to pay homage to those with nice things to say – here’s the low-down on who’s talking Kristen Stewart.

First of all, Celebreality and former America’s Next Top Model star Adrianne Curry had a few things to say about the stunning Stewart via Twitter recently. In her tweets, she went back and forth with some of her own followers to say things like “She is young, beautiful,” and that you don’t “have to love being famous to love acting.” More on that is available here.

Secondly, a very lovely run-down on five reasons to love Kristen Stewart was issued by PopStar recently, where they state that “Whether she is cracking jokes in interviews or dropping trophies at award shows, Stewart is never afraid to let her inner goof shine through which is really spectacular.” They also point out the somewhat obvious fact that Stewart is “strong-willed and focused on her beliefs.” The full list is available here.

Stewart’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon co-star Charlie Bewley had an interview recently with Hollywood.com where he talked about Stewart, hitting the nail on the head with some rationale as to why she happens to not be the fame-banging attention . . . . well, you know. Said he,

I think she could be a lot like Bella. She doesn’t want too much attention, and she picks her friends wisely and she’s someone who just wants to do her work. Not everyone is going to be like Jamie [Campbell Bower] or me or someone who loves this whole attention thing and laps it up and sees it as a life experience. Some people are more reserved, just ‘I just want to keep myself to myself and do my thing and sorry if I can’t give all of my energy to you.’

Screenstar’s Colleen Joyce, when recounting some of the background information on Stewart’s next endeavor, K-11, had some kind things to say about both Stewart and her co-star Nikki Reed as well. Said she,

Both Reed and Stewart will play men in this film which is a far cry from their flawless beauty depicted in Twilight, a bold and brave move for both these rising stars that has always been willing to take on the controversial roles and push their acting limits.  Don’t be surprised to see these ladies February 2011 on the red carpet of the Oscars looking to pick up some gold!

New Moon Soundtrack Artists Talk!

Over the last few days, several of the newly announced artists on The Twilight Saga: New Moon‘s soundtrack have gotten the chance to speak up about their involvement with the film franchise, so here is a rundown of the interviews thus far!

First of all, the Hurricane Bells had an interview with Entertainment Weekly where Steve Schiltz, soloist, talked about becoming a part of the New Moon soundtrack. Said he, “I got an email from the director [Chris Weitz] saying that he wanted to use it as maybe the first song in the film.” Schlitz’s reaction, to say the least, was enthusiastic.

St. Vincent, a.k.a. Annie Clark, had an interview with Buzznet where she talked about how she and Bon Iver got together to pen “Roslyn” for the New Moon soundtrack. Said she, “we both were really interested in collaborating after we met at Bonnaroo we realized that we were both big fans of each other. After the festival he sent this song ‘Roslyn’ and we talked a bit about what I would do on it and the whole thing was just a really simple process.”

Finally, Anya Marina, whose song “Satellite Heart” is already taking a special place in Twilight fans’ hearts, spoke out on her MySpace page about her “thoughts on New Moon” and here’s what she had to say:

Hello friends!

A few months ago, I was asked by Chris Weitz (the director of the new Twilight movie (New Moon) to come in to his office to screen the latest Twilight movie, NEW MOON. I guess he’d heard my cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” and really liked it. Naturally, I was thrilled. I heard all sorts of my favorite bands were being considered for the soundtrack (Thom Yorke, Death Cab, Grizzly Bear, etc). In fact, on the day of my own private screening, as I walked in, The Killers were making their way out.

oh.

em.

gee.

Suffice it to say, the movie was great and I got really inspired to adapt a new song I’d been working on to suit Bella and Edward and their whole drama. I got together with my friend, producer [and mixer on Slow & Steady…] Ken Andrews, and we recorded a pretty mean version of a new song called “Satellite Heart.”

When I heard that Chris decided not only to include “Satellite Heart” in my favorite scene in New Moon, but also in the soundtrack, I was – pardon the pun – over the moon. I can’t wait to see it in the movie or for you to hear some of the straight-up sick remixes that’ll be coming out soon, too. For now, stream the song (and check out the lyrics) on MySpace, and then pre-order the soundtrack through iTunes to be able to download “Satellite Heart” instantly.

Enjoy. See you in November!

x

Anya

Charlie Bewley Interview with Hollywood.com

Charlie Bewley won’t say how old he is.

He also won’t elaborate on the details of his seemingly scandal-heavy past, which he alludes to frequently, nebulously describing it as “erratic, risky, bread-line. High highs, low lows.” In passing, he mentions turbulent romances and family dramas, and says he doesn’t really drink anymore, but keeps mum on the reasons why. He is decidedly mysterious.

“I have to be,” Bewley says.

What’s known is that Bewley is a British expat who worked several snow seasons in ski mecca Whistler after immigrating to Canada several years ago. For a time, he supported himself by driving a cab (“I had the most money out of all my friends”) and later moved to Vancouver, a two-ish-hour drive from Whistler, to pursue his acting career. The choice necessitated another move to Los Angeles in September of this year.

This is, of course, because Bewley plays the Volturi vampire Demetri in the upcoming New Moon, the second installment of the culturally permeating Twilight Saga series.

Last year’s Twilight grossed $383 million worldwide and set just as many hearts, mostly female, into hysterics with its story of forbidden human/vampire romance. The Saga’s trio of teen dream leads, Kristen Stewart,Taylor Lautner, and especially Robert Pattinson, are suddenly, ridiculously famous, with their faces gracing tabloid covers on an almost weekly basis under headlines like “Rob Risks It All for Kristen.”

The Twilight series is a juggernaut running on the romantic fantasies and babysitting money of its largely teenage audience, a group that literally screams and cries for all things Twilight. The series has spawned dolls, videogames, charm bracelets and (seriously) decorative throws. But it’s the actors, no matter how bit their part, that are the franchise’s most sought after commodity.

Bewley’s role in New Moon is his first professional acting gig, and it thrusts him into the unique position of being at once both fresh to the Hollywood solar system and very, very famous in the alternative universe that is theTwilight subculture. Bewley, however, says he doesn’t feel “suddenly famous” and admits he’s long dealt with being well-known, saying, cryptically, that he’s “always been fairly infamous in the circles I travel in.”

Now, he’s immensely in demand among the human waves of teen girls who mobbed him while he was shootingNew Moon on location in Montepulciano, Italy.

“Italy was a dream. Very surreal,” Bewley says. “I think everyone there, no matter who it was, Rob [Pattinson], Kristen [Stewart], [director] Chris [Weitz] or anyone else would say that it was an experience that they may never go through again. The hospitality of the whole thing, the way they treated us, the whole setting was so magnificent. “

“I was just swamped with 15-year-old girls wherever I went. My inner 14-year-old teenager in my head had a great time.”

While being pursued through the streets of Montepulciano byTwilight fanatics was a magical experience for him, Bewley acquiesces that there is a pressure induced by the immenseness of Twilight‘s popularity that he has yet to experience in the way that the film’s perpetually photographed leads have.

“Rob, I feel sorry for him a little bit,” Bewley says. “I feel for him, because he’s like a paparazzi fugitive right now. He can’t leave his house. He’s the most photographed person in the world.”

Bewley says it’s hard for him to say whether the attention Pattinson receives might make it difficult for the fellow Brit to enjoy his success, but that he, “can’t imagine he would ever say he wishes it didn’t happen, but it is a ridiculous thing to happen to anyone. He’s gone from zero to hero in six months, and his life is just totally turned upside down. I don’t know. I didn’t really speak to him in depth that much about it. But me in that situation, I think I just enjoy the parts of life that he can’t do right now too much.”

Those parts of life include exercising (he’s a diligent runner and also snowboards and plays rugby), not watching TV, enjoying the ability to walk out his front door without being photographed and working on his career.

“I’m not in that kind of like Zac Efron youth zone anymore,” he says, “I’m pushing through … I don’t really have time for anything else while I’m getting where I want to go. And then when I get there, I’ll start enjoying things I used to enjoy.”

The Twilight Saga offers an inevitable surge in visibility, a built-in fan base and an opportunity to work consistently while rounding out the series, making it a new actor’s wildest fantasy kind of job — albeit an intense and somewhat strange world to enter.

Admitting that it’s odd to be adored just by virtue of the (very well-known) character he plays, Bewley says, “It’s ridiculous. Like ‘I love you, I’m your biggest fan.’ How? My mum’s my biggest fan, or my sister or someone like that. They know me. [The fans are] just very not fickle. They look at you like, ‘Wow, he’s attractive.’

He is attractive, and with appearances in all three of the upcoming Twilight Saga films (November’s New Moon and Breaking Dawn and Eclipse, slated for 2010 and 2011, respectively), audiences will have a plethora of opportunities to see so for themselves.

“In Eclipse, you’re not going to see much, butBreaking Dawn is an opportunity for me to really show his power and if they allow me to just let loose. It’s really exciting.”

“He,” of course, is Demetri, Bewley’s vampire alter ego. He describes his character as, “vicious, aggressive, dark and efficient. Lethal. But at the same time, he’s not evil; just by our standards, the things he does are evil.”

The way Bewley sees it, Demetri “has a lot of misplaced energy, or a lot of unused energy, and that kind of manifests in his behavior. When I first started thinking about the character, I did the whole animal thing, and I just worked out that he was this killer housecat — just in the way he is and his attention is fairly ADD. But his attention is always towards something that’s moving or something that’s happening, and he wants to be part of that and he wants to get his hand on it. It’s constant. He just wants to run or chase. But he’s very kind of confined within this sort of mafioso arrangement that the Volturi coven is. He’s contained. And he just wants to go. And this is since Jane and Alec have come on the scene, because they are now the heads, and there’s no more fighting, so he’s kind of bored. He’s looking for action.”

Prior to conjuring up these characteristics (he even ran Demetri’s back story by series author Stephenie Meyer), Bewley had to earn the role. He auditioned twice for Demetri and once for the role of Marcus. He was “elated” to get the part of the Volturi tracker, as he feels he and the vampire share similar qualities.

“It makes it easier, yeah, number one. Number two, I think right now, I think I just have to be, in an acting sense, fairly loyal to the energy I’ve got as a person. And right now, I’ve got a lot of energy, and I want that to be shown in everything I do. Demetri is a character who hasn’t really — in Eclipse, you’re not going to see much, butBreaking Dawn is an opportunity for me to really show his power, and if they allow me to just let loose … it’s really exciting.”

Eclipse, the Saga’s third installment, is currently being filmed in Vancouver. The film, following the series’ habit of bringing in a new director for each installment, is being directed by David Slade, best known for the dark comedy Hard Candy and another atmospheric vampire flick, 30 Days of Night.

Eclipse is going to be dark, and it’s going to be dreadful,” Bewley says, “It’s going to be gory and brutal.”

If the hype surrounding New Moon is any indication of the success Eclipse will experience, then the third film is going to be huge, and Bewley, huger with it. He attributes the film franchise’s success thus far to one key element.

“They go insane because Rob did a really good job in the first one. That’s why they’re obsessed with vampires … Those two are just brilliant together. They really are. It’s a perfect match. No one has ever really questioned whether they were the right people or not, they’ve always just been perfect. Really well cast.”

Of his co-star Kristen Stewart, often criticized in tab-blogs for being standoffish, Bewley says, “I think she could be a lot like Bella. She doesn’t want too much attention, and she picks her friends wisely and she’s someone who just wants to do her work. Not everyone is going to be like Jamie [Campbell Bower] or me or someone who loves this whole attention thing and laps it up and sees it as a life experience. Some people are more reserved, just ‘I just want to keep myself to myself and do my thing and sorry if I can’t give all of my energy to you.’ Maybe it’s because I have so much energy.”

Bewley hasn’t yet reached the tabloid-cover level of fame, a la Rob and Kristen, but he has gotten a taste of what his co-stars’ very public lives are like.

“When it first happened, I started getting rounds of phone calls because my number was on my website. When it was first announced, those first few days were kind of weird. It was like, OK … and you start Googling yourself and there’s more and more and more and more stuff.

I just worry about what’s going to come out because I’ve had a big past and I’ve done a lot of things before and I’m ultra-paranoid someone’s going to come on there and say something. But it doesn’t happen like that. Everyone just watches and smiles and enjoys it for you.”

Considering that Bewley has gone from cab driver to major motion picture vampire royalty in a few short years, it’s likely that the characters of his past, whoever they may be, are indeed smiling. What’s certain is that his thousands of new fans are too.

Robert Pattinson Overnight Sex Symbol

Every now and then, a movie comes out that transforms a male actor into someone to be desired, adored and often watched for decades to come. We’re experiencing such a phenomenon now with Robert Pattinson, who has essentially starred in one wide-release movie and had “Twilight” transform him from “Who’s that?” to “Hottest Man Alive” overnight.

But where does RPattz go from here? Will he launch a decades-long career? Work with directors like Spielberg and Scorsese? Or will he become another Hollywood cautionary tale? Below are a handful of beefcake breakouts transformed by one major role, whose careers could perhaps give guidance to the Sparkly One.

James Dean

Arguably the greatest male cinematic sex symbol of all time, actors like Pattinson and James Franco continue to owe a huge debt to the lived-fast, died-young legend. When 1955’s “Rebel Without a Cause” hit theaters, it made Dean an overnight sensation that was like RPattz’s “Twilight” success times 10. Decades later, Hollywood continues to wonder what sort of career Dean would have built had he lived past age 24; the ultimate cautionary tale for young Hollywood sensations, Dean will always be a reminder of the dark side of sudden fame.

Brad Pitt

For years, he had been a pretty face making commercials and bad movies — then, the little-known actor took off his shirt in “Thelma & Louise,” displayed a six-pack for the ages, and became Brad Pitt. Unfortunately, Pitt wasted a good number of years as the best-known star in the world whose movies never seemed to make money (“The Devil’s Own,” “Seven Years in Tibet”), but over the last few years (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Inglourious Basterds”) his star status has finally translated to big box-office bucks and more than a few classic films.

Daniel Craig

There was a time when everyone thought he was the wrong choice as Bond, but now it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role. Heralding the return of the manly man, Craig is undoubtedly a star — and “Casino Royale” is the film that made his roll of the dice pay off. But with “The Golden Compass” and “The Invasion” also on his recent résumé, RPattz needs to choose his non-franchise scripts more wisely.

Taye Diggs

Although he’d made appearances on a few TV shows and had a stint on “Guiding Light,” 27-year-old Diggs was blessed with a great showcase role as strapping young Jamaican lothario Winston Shakespeare in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back.” While audiences watched Angela Bassett fall for him, so did Hollywood — and two decades of movies and TV have followed, leading up to a current recurring role on “Private Practice.” RPattz might see Diggs as a cautionary tale, however, because his career path has yielded far more clunkers (“House on Haunted Hill,” “Malibu’s Most Wanted”) than classics (“Go”).

Robert Redford

The ultimate example of what a smart sex symbol can become, this Hollywood legend became a household name in 1969 when director George Roy Hill talked the studio into taking a chance on him with “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” Determined not to become just another pretty face, Redford became a man on a mission — over the next four decades he’d star in instant classics like “The Sting,” direct Oscar juggernauts like “Ordinary People,” and launch the Sundance Film Festival, among other notable achievements. All these years later, he’s probably the best-looking 73-year-old walking the planet — and among the most influential.

Matthew McConaughey

Back in the mid-’90s, it seemed like a daring decision to cast a nobody as the star of a high-profile John Grisham legal thriller. But once “A Time to Kill” hit theaters, women all over the world fell for the muscular, charismatic, impossibly sweaty star of the film. As the years have gone by, McConaughey’s mystery has been replaced with memorable tales of his eccentric personality — but there are few leading men as desired by women and filmmakers alike.

Leonardo DiCaprio

It’s hard to imagine now, but there was a time when li’l Leo DiCaprio was known primarily as the Cousin Oliver of “Growing Pains.” Then along came Kate Winslet, James Cameron and a romantic drama called “Titanic” that would become the highest-grossing film of all time. Like Redford before him, DiCaprio has done a wonderful job using his sex-symbol desirability to work with top directors and get great films made (“The Departed”) and, aside from the occasional “Body of Lies” speed bump, shows no signs of slowing down. His work for causes he believes in (“The 11th Hour”) also shows how sexiness can effectively be translated into something much more meaningful.

‘Eclipse’ Producers Tight Lipped About Movie

Producers of the wildly popular Twilight movies will say little about what film crews were doing last week in the Nanaimo Lakes area.

While crews were filming at a closed location south of Nanaimo for the past week, the unit publicist in Vancouver was unable on Monday to provide much more information than had already been dug up by curious and enthusiastic fans.

“Eclipse did film visual effects shots near Nanaimo for two days last week,” said Toni Atterbury with CM Productions Canada.

“No actors were involved in this and none of our cast travelled to Vancouver Island last week to film. Two of our cast members, Cameron Bright who plays Alec and Jodelle Ferland who plays Bree, have ties to Nanaimo, but were not involved in the scenes shot locally.”

Security around Twilight locations on Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland has been exceptionally tight. Stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart are back in Vancouver making the third film in the trilogy, Eclipse, until the end of October, attracting unusually keen attention from fans.

The young stars are tracked by fans to their hotel and favourite restaurants and any bars and clubs where they might try to sneak a drink or see a band.

Fans travel from all over North America and as far away as New Zealand to track their vampire heroes with the hope of getting a picture or an autograph. In some cases they have flocked to filming locations by the hundreds, creating unprecedented security headaches for the producers.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Eclipse producers had asked newspaper websites and radio stations outlets in Vancouver not to disclose the filming locations, citing possible security and safety concerns for both the cast and crew, as well as the fans.
