What’s the Cast is doing in 2010?

The Twilight cast is positively gigantic at this point. With The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse complete, the list of cast members has grown significantly. There are some who play, well, bigger roles in the film series (i.e., Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner), but even with a cast this formidable, each and every actor in the series holds a special place in the hearts of Twilight fans who support their careers even outside of the series.

There are a few whose 2010 adventures have been well elucidated and explored. For instance, the fact that they’ll be showing in the summer’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is pretty much a given.

Even still, a comprehensive round-up of where you’ll see the Twilight cast in 2010 couldn’t hurt, now could it? This’ll be continually updated as more information comes in, by the way.

Cam & Family’s Day Out

gallery_main-cam-gigandet-family-cafe-med-10082009-07

Cam Gigandet is seen here taking his family, girlfriend Dominique Geisendorff and their baby Everleigh Rae Gigandet to Cafe Med in West Hollywood, CA.

Other than playing daddy, Cam’s a busy man. He’s currently shooting the film Priest, which is an adaptation of Min-Woo Hyung’s graphic novel series about mankind’s battle against fallen angels.

This is what Cam said about his character, “I have very cool weapons,” he said of his character Hicks, who he has described as a boy “trying to become a man.” “I have an unbelievable knife; I have an unbelievable gun.”

Hopefully he’s got a big gun, because that I’d like to see.

Who’s The Scarier Vampire Villain?

If you were caught unaware wandering the forests of Forks or the balmy swamps of Bon Temps, whose creepy footsteps would you fear the most: Cam Gigandet as “Twilight” tracker James or scary (although super sexy) “True Blood” Viking vamp Eric Northman played by Alexander Skarsgård? That’s the question posed as part of Spike’s 2009 Scream Awards, which honor the best in fantasy, sci-fi, comics and horror.

The two vampires go head-to-head (or sharp teeth-to-fangs, if you will) in the Best Villain category alongside Eric Bana as Nero in “Star Trek,” Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange in the “Harry Potter” films, Lorna Raver as Mrs. Ganush in “Drag Me to Hell” and Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed/ Sabretooth in “Wolverine.” We’re only interested in the two bloodsuckers though (duh!), so here’s how the pair stack up:

Build
Eric: The strapping Viking is a ceiling-grazing 6’4″ and is stacked like a Greek god.
James: The lithe, lean nomad stands at an even 6 feet.
Advantage: Eric. No explanation necessary.

Years As A Vampire
Eric: 1,000
James: Unknown, though he’s at least 80 years old having menaced Alice right before her turning in 1920.
Advantage: Eric. It’s safe to assume that if James had hit the millennium mark he would have been hob-nobbing with the Volturi instead of a small coven of shoeless vampires.

Special Abilities
Eric: We saw for the first time (I believe) in last week’s “Frenzy” episode of “True Blood” that Eric can fly.
James: The bloodsucker is more bloodhound with his ability to track his prey with a sort of “sixth sense.”
Advantage: James. Though it was a close decision, James’ ability to find you WHEREVER YOU GO is much creepier (and likely deadlier) than flitting around like Peter Pan.

Deadlines
Eric: In the “True Blood” universe, Eric can snack on you without killing you, which means an encounter with him is much less likely to result in your death or rebirth as a fellow vamp.
James: In Stephenie Meyer’s world, a single venomous bite from one of her baddies is all it takes to leave you writhing in pain for days until you’re a member of the undead nation.
Advantage: James

Style
Eric: Nothing says “I’m ready to kick butt” quite like a wife beater.
James: The tracker wears his dead victim’s duds.
Advantage: Eric. He’d never stoop to wearing used clothes, most likely cause he’d never fit in them!

Overall winner: Eric. Based on his Nordic heft, millennium of experience and impeccable wardrobe, the “True Blood” vamp just edges out the “Twilight” tracker.

Check out Spike.com to see the rest of the nominees for the Scream 2009 awards, including a showdown between “Twilight” and “True Blood” for best ensemble and many more.

Who do you think is the best villain: James or Eric? (And tell us why!)

Cam Gigandet Talks Motorcycles In ‘Priest’ Movie

Cam Gigandet

One thing I’ve noticed over the course of my life is that chicks dig dudes on motorcycles; one thing I’ve noticed over the last year or so is that chicks also dig Cam Gigandet. So, if the team behind the currently-shooting “Priest” adaptation are concerned about attracting the female demographic, some info I got recently from Cam makes me think they have no need to worry.

“Right now I’m shooting a movie with Paul Bettany that’s called ‘Priest,’ which is going to be an unbelievable film,” he explained when he stopped by the MTV studio last week. “The sets are just unbelievable—and we ride around on motorcycles.”

With any luck, Gigandet joked, not only will he and Bettany look cool as they channel their inner Wild Hogs, but they’ll also look like they know what they’re doing.

“I’d never ridden a motorcycle before this movie,” he said of the flick, based on Min-Woo Hyung’s graphic novel series about mankind’s battle against fallen angels. “They trained us on how to ride motorcycles and all that. Then I finally got to ride my motorcycle on set, and it is a huge beast of a motorcycle. It’s one of the coolest motorcycles, and Priest is on a motorcycle as well, and we get to ride in the middle of the desert on salt flats—it [looks] like those Chevy commercials.”

“We get to ride in the open plains, just me and him in the middle of nowhere,” Gigandet said of his time with Bettany in the flick, which hits theaters next summer. “It’s probably one of the best feelings in the world.”

“I’m a good guy—that’s a change!” joked Gigandet, who can currently be seen acting more than a bit devilish in the sci-fi thriller “Pandorum.” “He’s different. He’s not the most confident guy in the world; he’s not like this cool cat. And that’s his journey, trying to become a man. He was put in these circumstances, whether we wanted to or not; these were forced upon him. And as hard as he tries to be a man and show that he can handle himself, he can’t.”

“But in the end of the movie, he gets there,” grinned Gigandet. “It’s a cool little movie.”

Cam Gigandet Interview

On Twilight and his future in movies.

I imagine since being part of Twilight you’ve been able to make a lot more choices in terms of the roles you take.
Yeah, that’s opened up so many doors, and I’m so grateful for what that movie’s done. It was really kind of a special little slice of life that brought me where I am today. Thankfully I got to do other things.

Do you feel somewhat grateful that you were there for the first one only? Robert Pattinson’s life is never going to be the same. You don’t have to be chased down the street by screaming girls or anything.
Yeah, exactly. We talked about this before we even started the movie, and that was one of the big selling points. Me, myself, I wasn’t interested in doing that for the rest of my life. It was kind of the perfect balance for that movie.

Are you sticking with movies for now, or would you go back to TV?
No, I have too much fun on movie sets.

What’s the big difference between movies sand TV for you?
It’s very different and very new. As far as TV I think i would get too bored. I get bored easily. I want to try new things and put myself out there and take some risks.

True Blood and Twilight Meet for ‘Priest’

Cam Gigandet isn’t the only popular vampire to be in PriestVariety is reporting that True Bloodstar Stephen Moyer will join the Twilight star on the cast of the film.

Moyer also joins Paul Bettany and Maggie Q on the feature that is to be directed by Scott Stewart.

According to Variety,

Scripted by Cory Goodman, the thriller involves a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who kidnapped his niece.

Though he’s known for playing a bloodsucker in HBO’s hit vampire drama, in this feature film foray Moyer will play the mortal brother of the protagonist.

Apparently, filming for Priest has begun today as well.

Tonner Introduces The Bad Vamps!

Tonner Doll Company was the first collectibles outfit to recognize the potential of the Twilight franchise and (along with some prodding from Dread toy junkies) quickly jumped at the chance to bring this world of supernatural beings into their family of licenses. To date only Edward and Bella have been realized in doll form, but as the Dread crew closed up shop at San Diego Comic-Con, our excellent Tonner friends flagged us down for a sneak preview of what’s to come.

Say hello to James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre, soon to be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard, however)! Click each to see them in more detail, and visit our Tonner Doll Company picture gallery from the SDCC 09 for a closer look at each figure.

When we asked Tonner reps about the obvious … where is Jacob? … we were told he is not far behind and certainly very high on their priority list. After some approvals we should be seeing him — sooner than you might think!

The ORIGIN Of The ‘Twilight’ and ‘New Moon’ Stars

There is an interesting shift in the paradigm of casting between Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon and, newly, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

In Twilight, most of the cast members chosen were from the United States, including actors Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Peter Facinelli (dual citizenship with Italy), Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Cam Gigandet, Anna Kendrick, Michael Welch, Christian Serratos, Gil Birmingham, Justin Chon, and Billy Burke. Robert Pattinson is from the United Kingdom, Rachelle Lefevre is from Canada, Jackson Rathbone is from Singapore (though he grew up all over the world, including in the U.S.), and Edi Gathegi is from Kenya (educated in the U.S.).

In New Moon, the additional cast members were of more various descent. While there were some American-born actors added to the cast (including Alex Meraz and Dakota Fanning), many of the newest cast mates were from Canada and the United Kingdom. From Canada for The Twilight Saga: New Moon are Christopher Heyerdahl, Daniel Cudmore, Graham Greene, Noot Seear, and Cameron Bright. From the United Kingdom are Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Charlie Bewley.

For The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the newest cast member announced is Xavier Samuel, an Australian.

The global nature of interest in the Twilight series has certainly opened the casting process to a wider sphere of interest.

While Twilight had a very stream-lined cast, with the exception of Pattinson and Lefevre, of mostly those from the United States, New Moon has notably been more international in nature. Since New Moon was filmed in Canada, it makes perfect sense that many of its additional cast members would be from Canada. Still, it is interesting to watch the diversity of nationality unfold as casting for the films commences. With Eclipse, there are still two major cast members yet to be announced, including Seth and Leah Clearwater.

With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, the nationality of cast mates will be at its pinnacle of diversity (as necessitated by the book’s description of the newest characters’ origins).
